Why Is It Called "Iron Goddess of Mercy"?
Tie Guan Yin, meaning "Iron Goddess of Mercy," takes its name from Guanyin, the Buddhist deity of compassion, and has been revered in Chinese tea culture for centuries. Grown specifically in Anxi County, Fujian Province, it's distinguished by its tightly rolled leaves, which slowly unfurl over multiple infusions, releasing layered notes of orchid and roasted walnut with each steep.
